Dating Scene in Berlin is "quite dismal" or "very unfavorable."
Berlin's Dating Scene Slammed by New RTL Bachelor Felix Stein
In a candid chat with the German Press Agency, Felix Stein - one of the fresh faces on RTL's reality dating show "Die Bachelors" - dishes out his take on dating in the bustling capital of Berlin. "Let's cut to the chase, Berlin ain't the place to find Mr. or Ms. Right," he says bluntly, adding a touch of his trademark humor.
Stein, a Berlin native himself, shares his view of Berlin's dating culture as "ziemlicher Horror" (a bit of a horror), without going into specifics. Could Berlin's fast-paced lifestyle, huge population, or casual hookup culture be the culprits? Stein doesn't pronounce, but his warning sure paints a dire picture.
The city's abundance of dating apps, which reportedly started in Berlin, and its influx of tourists might be contributing factors to this dating horror, speculates Stein. "So many fish in the sea, it's hard to choose," he quips. But choice might not be a good thing here, if you ask him.
From Commitment-Phobe to RTL Bachelor
Despite wearing the crown of a commitment-phobe for a portion of his 32 years, Stein has sworn off his bachelor days. "That chapter of my life has closed," he emphasizes. Now, he's hunting for his "happily ever after" on "Die Bachelors."
Alongside Stein, Martin Braun, a Cologne-based insurance specialist, is also jumping into the dating pool under the South African sun. The new season kicks off on RTL on Wednesday, June 18, at 8:15 PM, and you can catch the first episode a day earlier on RTL+.
Running for eight years, "Die Bachelors" had previously featured a single bachelor, but this year, the show is switching things up with two love-seeking guys. This change has been inspired by last year's experiment of two bachelors, hence the name change from "Der Bachelor" to "Die Bachelors" (The Bachelors). What's next? A harem of bachelors, maybe? Now that's a show we'd tune in for!
In Berlin, Felix Stein, formerly known for his commitment-phobic lifestyle, shares his perspective on the city's dating scene, describing it as a "ziemlicher Horror" due to the overflow of dating options, fast-paced lifestyle, and potentially casual hookup culture. Despite this, Stein is currently seeking a meaningful relationship on RTL's reality dating show "Die Bachelors," where he will compete alongside Martin Braun, a Cologne-based insurance specialist.
