Paul Lim: The 71-Year-Old Darts Phenom

Darts pair engages with 71-year-old in World Championship - Darts pair encounters 71-year-old individual at the World Championship event

Hail the Singapore Slinger, Paul Lim! Despite reaching the ripe age of 71, this darts prodigy remains a force to be reckoned with. This Friday evening (around 10:45 PM CEST, live on DAZN), Lim and his teammate Phuay Wei Tan will face off against Martin Schindler and Ricardo Pietreczko, the young German duo, in the World Cup of Darts.

The German duo, with Schindler at 28 and Pietreczko at 30, are much greener than their 71-year-old rival combined. Both respect and admire Lim's unrelenting presence in the major tournaments. Pietreczko remarked after their 4-2 win against Portugal, "He's a freakin' legend of our sport! To still be playing at that age, it's insane! If I'm still rockin' it at that age, I'll be stoked!"

No Close Encounters with the Veteran

Schindler cracked a joke, "Then you're still penniless, my friend." In the World Cup of Darts, two professionals from each nation compete as doubles. It's one of two major tournaments for Lim each year.

"We barely cross paths with him. No real connection," Schindler confessed. The 71-year-old shouldn’t present much of an obstacle on their path to the round of 16. Top competitors like England, led by world champion Luke Littler, will join the tournament later on.
