Darts drama as Van Duijvenbode’s exit sparks officiating controversy

Dirk van Duijvenbode was knocked out of the Players Championship Finals in Minehead after a controversial call. His last dart was ruled illegal in a tense first-round match against Madars Razma. The Dutchman left the stage visibly frustrated, questioning the referee’s decision.

The incident happened when Van Duijvenbode trailed 5-3 in legs. He tried to bust his score after missing two darts at double 20, but his final throw was disallowed. The referee stepped forward and announced, '15 scored. That last dart does not count.'

The controversial call cut short Van Duijvenbode’s run in the tournament. His exit leaves Razma advancing to the next round. The incident has sparked discussion over officiating standards in professional darts.
