Mark your calendars, darts enthusiasts! The Alexandra Palace, fondly known as Ally Pally, will once again host the Darts World Championship in its expanded XXL format. The PDC confirmed the exciting news at the World Cup in Frankfurt, ensuring the buzzed-about tournament returns to London in December, with the exact dates to be announced soon.

Rumors of a possible relocation to destinations like Saudi Arabia have been swirling, but for now, the World Championship remains firmly rooted in the heart of England. As for the capacity, the event will take place in the West Hall, which seats approximately 3,500 spectators, unlike the Great Hall within the Alexandra Palace.

A World Title Awaits – At Home! ## Doubled Prize Money for the Lucky Winner

Exciting times lie ahead for the darts community, as the PDC has not only expanded the participant pool from 96 to an impressive 128 but has also doubled the prize money for the winner. Instead of the previous £500,000 (approximately €600,000), the victor of the world’s most prestigious darts tournament will now take home an impressive £1,000,000 (approx. €1,200,000) in prize money.

With the increased reward, even the reigning champion, Luke Littler, must compete from the get-go. The World Championship will now emulate a tennis Grand Slam tournament, maintaining its knockout format while providing more opportunities for drama and exhilaration.

With the expanded format, expect an additional 32 matches and eight extra sessions, which should generate more ticket revenue at the Alexandra Palace. Current predictions suggest an early start date of December 11, making the championship four days shorter than the traditional December 15 start.
