In the heart-wrenching events of the Świêtokrzyskie region, a bus accident left a coach and the driver dead, with 17 junior football players injured. This unfortunate incident occurred on a Saturday afternoon, when the Alit Ożarów junior team's bus swerved off the road, slamming into a tree after the 65-year-old driver suffered a sudden loss of consciousness.

Based on accounts from the devastated players, their 43-year-old coach attempted to seize control of the vehicle once he noticed the driver's condition. Despite his valiant efforts, he was unable to halt the bus, but the players believe their coach's actions prevented additional casualties. "Had it not been for the coach, there could have been more victims," they stated.

Multiple emergency services, including four medical helicopters, swung into action, and the players were rushed to hospitals in Kielce, Opatów, and Staszów. Although some of their injuries necessitated prolonged hospital care, none were deemed life-threatening.
