A thrill-seeker met his demise in a catastrophic wingsuit plunge from a staggering 3,450-meter Alpine peak. The victim, a 32-year-old local mountain guide, was discovered by rescue services at the foot of the Pointe Trifide in La Grave, as announced by the public prosecutor's office, according to reports from France 3 and "Le Dauphiné Libéré."

The casualty apparently plummeted alongside another extreme sports enthusiast, who landed safely in the valley. "They leaped off the mountain together, and one plunged at the base of Trifide," said Jean-Pierre Pic, the mayor of La Grave, to the paper. Local mountain police are now conducting an investigation to shed light on the circumstances surrounding this accident, as per the prosecutor's office.

Adrenaline junkies donning wingsuits ("wing suits") typically hurl themselves from mountain edges, using a specialized suit with fabric between the arms and legs to catch their free fall and soar like a bird. The flight usually concludes with a parachute deployment for landing.

While it is crucial to clarify that this accident does not involve the well-known wingsuit flyer, Jeb Corliss—who miraculously survived a grave crash in 2012 during a wingsuit flight near the Matterhorn—it's essential to acknowledge that wingsuit flying has been marred by unfortunate fatal incidents throughout the years.
