A tragic incident occurred in the French Alps as renowned wingsuit pilot, Uli Emanuels, lost his life during a wingsuit jump from the 3,450-meter-high Pointe Trifide in La Grave. The news was announced by the local public prosecutor's office, as reported by France 3 and the newspaper "Le Dauphiné Libéré".

Emanuels, a mountain guide and extreme sports enthusiast, undertook the descent alongside another sportsman. Although his companion landed safely in the valley, Emanuels met his tragic end at the foot of Trifide. The local mountain police have initiated an investigation to shed light on the circumstances surrounding the accident.

Base jumpers with wingsuits leverage these specially designed suits to launch from rock ledges, propelling themselves with fabric between their arms and legs that act like wings. As the jump approaches its end, jumpers typically deploy a parachute for a safe landing.

This unfortunate event serves as a stark reminder of the high risks associated with wingsuit flying, particularly in challenging mountainous terrain like the French Alps.
