Fault: Train with 116 Passengers Evacuated in Flensburg - Danish passenger train evacuated after technical failure near German border
A Danish passenger train travelling from Hamburg to Copenhagen was evacuated on Wednesday evening after a technical fault. The disruption occurred between Flensburg and Harrislee, forcing 116 passengers to leave the train in chilly weather.
Rail services towards Denmark faced temporary delays as a result of the incident.
The train developed a technical defect shortly after departing Flensburg. With temperatures hovering near freezing, firefighters arrived to assist passengers in disembarking safely. Emergency ladders were used to help everyone exit the stranded carriages.
All 116 travellers were then transferred to a replacement train to continue their journey. The evacuation caused a brief suspension of rail traffic on the route, but services resumed once the affected train was cleared from the line.
The incident led to minor disruptions for passengers heading into Denmark. Fire crews ensured a swift and orderly evacuation, while rail operators arranged alternative transport. Normal service was restored after the train was removed from the tracks.
