New Trump remarks on Greenland, Frederiksen's response, Danish gastronomy title fight, and more exciting news this Monday morning. 💥🍽️🌧️

Trump Takes Another Dig at Greenland 🇬🇱

U.S. President Donald Trump showed no signs of giving up on his wish to acquire Greenland, as he threw new verbal jabs at Denmark over the weekend.

"I reckon we'll get a hold of Greenland, I'm pretty sure. Greenland's folks are on our side. As you know, it's home to 55,000 people, and they're in favor of sticking with us," Trump declared to CNBC and Forbes on Saturday.

But, Greenland's Government leader Múte Egede has made it crystal clear that the island is not up for grabs. “My word is, Greenland is not for sale”, Egede re-affirmed last week.

In what could be a subtle jab at Denmark's defense capabilities, Trump doubted the effectiveness of Greenland's two dog-sled teams, which were deployed two weeks ago as part of a Defense Ministry spending increase [December 2024]. Trump voiced concern that these measures were insufficient for the island's protection, stating that they were simply "two dog sleds."

Let's remember that the Defense Ministry's spending package also included two additional inspection ships, augmented personnel, and two new long-range drones.

Frederiksen: Denmark is a loyal US Ally 🇩🇰🇺🇸

Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen reacted to Trump's recent comments by emphasizing Denmark's enduring friendship with the U.S.

"Denmark has had a strong bond and will continue to be a steadfast ally," Frederiksen told broadcaster TV2 on Sunday.

Reflecting on Danish soldiers who fought alongside U.S. troops in previous military conflicts, such as Afghanistan, Frederiksen accentuated Denmark's unwavering commitment to the alliance.

Frederiksen remained steadfast in her position, stating that Denmark's stance remains unchanged, even in the face of Trump's continued rhetoric.

"We've heard this before, and our position hasn't changed one bit," Frederiksen told broadcaster DR.

Danish Chef to Wrestle for Top Gastronomy Title 🥄🍽️

Twenty-five-year-old Sebastian Holberg Svendsgaard, a Danish chef whose arms are covered with tattoos, is about to showcase his culinary skills at the prestigious Bocuse d'Or competition taking place today in Lyon, France.

Holberg represented Denmark in the Bocuse d'Or team since 2019 and seized the European title in 2024. Originally from a small town southwest of Copenhagen, Holberg was often a slacker in school.

"I wasn't any good in school, not at all," he frankly confessed to news agency AFP. Holberg, burdened with dyslexia, struggled academically and had to turn his focus to finding his passion.

"I had to find something I excelled in," he added.

The Bocuse d'Or, often referred to as the "gastronomic Olympics," will involve 24 competitors this year. Let's wish our brave Danish chef great success!

Weather Forecast: Grey and Rainy Days Ahead 🌧️🌦️**

It seems we're in for a rainy and chilly week in Denmark. Rain and winds will affect the entire country today before the rest of the week provides unsettled conditions with short intervals of sunshine.

"We'll kick off the day with clouds, with a substantial rainstorm anticipated to cross Denmark, beginning in the early hours of Southern Jutland," said meteorologist Erik Hansen of the Danish Meteorological Institute.

Some northern parts of Jutland could experience sleet, but overall, expect a damp week with the sun occasionally trying to peek through the clouds.
