Gearing Up for "Torpedo-Gorky" with Stalnov
Step into the hockey realm as we welcome a fresh face to our ice, Stalnov, taking the helm as coach of "Torpedo-Gorky." Born and raised in Ryazan, this athlete-turned-coach has had quite the journey before landing this coveted position.
Though he scarcely graced the rink for our main team, you might remember him from his stints with "Torpedo," "Sarov," and "Chayka" in Nizhny Novgorod's formidable hockey system. Unfortunately, he only played one game with 5 scant minutes on the ice for our team.
Despite the limited playing time, Stalnov proved his mettle as he clocked 42 games across two VHL seasons (2012/13 and 2013/14) for Sarov. Interestingly, Sarov served as a farm club for us. Furthermore, he notched up exactly 100 more games for the youth team. His career with Chayka kicked off in September 2011, and he turned 17 just a few months later in November.
Stalnov's transition from player to coach was sealed in 2021, following the unfortunate end to his playing career due to injury. Since then, he's been a dedicated scout-analyst for various Russian national teams before wading into club activities. In the Moscow region's "Khimik," he served as a video coach and worked side-by-side with the team on the ice. His impressive strides with Voskresensk brought the championship of the Russian Hockey League, making waves in the hockey community.
In 2025, another milestone was reached as he secured bronze medals with "Dinamo" from St. Petersburg, outmatching future champion "Torpedo-Gorky" in the grueling seven-game semifinal series. Fast forward to today, and Stalnov steps up as our defensive coach—a testament to his unwavering dedication to the sport.
A soft spot in Stalnov's heart is undeniably reserved for the "Torpedo" system, as evidenced by his young brother, Donat Stalnov's hockey journey. A forward, Donat was noted for his stint with the VHL club "Neftyanik" (Almetyevsk) last season. The hockey brotherhood between the two extends to the rink, further cementing Stalnov's ties with our team.
Though resources on Stalnov's coaching career and association with "Torpedo-Gorky" might be scarce, his illustrious hockey journey and recent achievements have ushered in a promising future for our team. Keep a keen eye on Stalnov and "Torpedo-Gorky" as they gear up for new challenges together!
