Daniil But's rapid rise from AHL standout to NHL debut

Daniil But has made a strong impression in his first North American professional hockey season. The Russian forward moved from Russia to the U.S. to advance his career and has quickly shown progress at both the AHL and NHL levels.

But began the season with the Colorado Avalanche's training camp but was one of the final cuts before the opener. He then joined the Tucson Roadrunners, the team's AHL affiliate, where he wasted no time making an impact. In just his second game, he earned his first AHL point, followed by his first goal in the third match.

Through his first 20 AHL games, But recorded eight goals and nine assists, totalling 17 points. His performance earned him a recall to the Colorado Mammoth on December 2, and he made his NHL debut the very next night.

Known for his hard work and determination—an area his coach describes as 'elite'—But has continued to refine his game.
