Daniel Küblböck's Tale of Excessive Joy
The much-anticipated documentary series, "Die Küblböck-Story – Eure Lana Kaiser," will be available for streaming on ARD Mediathek starting August 26, 2025. Produced by Bayerischer Rundfunk and WDR, this three-part series delves into the life of Daniel Küblböck (later Lana Kaiser), a jazz singer, entrepreneur, reality TV participant, and comedian who tragically passed away in 2018.
The first episode of the series will air on Das Erste TV channel on August 27, 2025, coinciding with what would have been Küblböck's 40th birthday. The full series will be accessible online a day earlier on ARD Mediathek.
The documentary series promises to offer a comprehensive look at Küblböck's life, covering his time on the German casting show "Deutschland sucht den Superstar," where he finished third in 2003, his transformation into a trans woman, his appearances on TV shows such as "I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!", and the circumstances surrounding his disappearance in 2018.
Personal interviews, archival footage, and key moments such as Küblböck's last known audio message sent from the cruise ship AIDAluna before his disappearance will be featured in the series. The documentary aims to present a portrait of a joyful yet deeply troubled man, as seen through the perspectives of his family, friends, and companions.
The series will remain on ARD Mediathek until at least the end of 2025, offering viewers a chance to delve into the life and legacy of Daniel Küblböck, a man whose lively and energetic personality left an indelible mark on the German entertainment industry.
