German tennis player Daniel Altmaier, aged 27 and hailing from Kempen, has shown promising form recently. He reached the round of 16 at the Paris Masters, boosting his world ranking to No. 46.

Altmaier's resurgence began at the ATP tournament in Metz, where he defeated Arthur Rinderknech in the opening match. He went on to reach the quarterfinals, his best performance this season since February. However, he fell short in the semifinals, losing to Lorenzo Sonego 4–6, 6–7 (6–8).
