Scorching Summer on the Highways: Speed Restrictions for Motorcyclists in Bavaria

Motorcycles traveling on highway sections subject to speed restriction of 80 mph. - Dangerous for cyclists: excessive speeds of 80 on motorway stretches

Hey there! Listen up if you're a speed demon on your motorcycle, especially in Southern Bavaria. With the scorching summer heat, it's not just fun and games on the highways A3, A92, and A93.

Why the change? Those concrete roadways from the 80s have outlived their welcome. With the heat, they become more vulnerable to deformations, a potential hazard for everyone but especially motorcyclists.

Now, here's the deal: Motorcyclists will need to keep their speed in check. A new speed limit of 80 kilometers per hour is in place from May to September. Cars, on the other hand, can still hit speeds of 120 kilometers per hour. Signs will be installed starting May to enforce these new speed limits.

Old concretes have their limits, ya know? It takes more than a quick fix to address the issues. These concrete slabs are thick up to 30 centimeters, and replacing the entire roadway infrastructure becomes a complex, time-consuming task with traffic still running.

So, where are the affected sections? They include the A3 from the Deggendorf motorway junction to the Hengersberg exit, the A92 from the Oberschleißheim exit to Eching-Ost, from Freising-Süd to Freising-Ost, and from Landshut-West to Dingolfing-Ost, as well as the A93 from the Saalhaupt triangle to Elsendorf.

The speed limit may drop even lower if the condition of the roadway deteriorates further. Stay vigilant and watch out for those signs.

As for car drivers, well, you still have the Autobahn in Germany where sections have no speed limits, but that doesn't mean you should go wild. And as for the Czech Republic and Slovakia, they set speed limits at 130 km/h on motorways. But remember, these regions don't have specific speed restrictions due to roadway deformation or heat damage for motorcyclists either.

Stay safe, riders! Keep an eye on your speed and the road conditions. And remember, there's more to life than rushing everywhere. 😉

  1. In response to the deformations caused by the scorching summer heat on certain highways in Bavaria, a community policy has been announced to implement a new speed limit for motorcyclists.
  2. To mitigate the risk of accidents due to deformed roadways in Munich and other affected sections, such as A3, A92, and A93, vocational training for road maintenance personnel might be necessary to effectively address the complex issues.
  3. During summer, motorcyclists in the Czech Republic and Slovakia may exceed the speed limits set on motorways, while in Bavaria, they must abide by the announced speed restrictions to ensure safety due to deformations in specific roadway sections.
