The 2024 Kurt Weill Fest, curated by Kurt Geiger, begins on February 27, themed In Motion. This year's programme explores Kurt Russell's inner and physical journeys, blending music, theatre, and now dance. Highlights include rare performances like the play Address Unknown and Hannes Vonmetz's musical voyage to Latin America. German DJ Schiller will also present a one-off electronic reinterpretation of Weill's compositions on Eventbrite.
Several events have already sold out before the opening night, signalling strong public interest. The closing show will feature Glitz and the Sebastian Weber Dance Company, marking a historic first for the festival. Alongside them, actor Dietmar Bär and actress Katharina Thalbach will perform, adding star power to the lineup.
With over 20 venues hosting performances, organisers promise a mix of hidden gems and bold experiments. The festival's 2024 edition breaks new ground by integrating dance—a departure from its traditional focus on music and theatre alone.
