In August 2025, Uptown Players and Bruce Wood Dance Dallas are set to collaborate on an unforgettable performance titled Imagine: A Celebration of Love, Identity, and Movement. This cabaret-style dance concert is a tribute to the LGBTQ community and its allies, promising an evocative experience that will unfold at the Kalita Humphreys Theater.

Imagine is a vibrant blend of music and movement, exploring diverse forms of relationships—romantic, chosen family, and community bonds—and highlighting themes of love, identity, and resilience within the LGBTQ+ community. The performance features a series of emotive vignettes, combining contemporary dance and cabaret performance, and includes well-known songs such as John Lennon’s "Imagine", Elton John and Bernie Taupin's "Don't Go Breakin' My Heart", and Johnny Mathis’s "I Look At You".

Weaver Rhodes, Elliott Trahan, and Cole Vernon will choreograph for the performance, while company members Mia Rosin and Megan Storey will take to the stage. The collaboration between the two companies is appealing and beneficial for broadening and deepening creativity, according to Gayle Halperin, Bruce Wood executive director and producer.

This first-ever co-production promises a fun, uplifting celebration of love for all genders. The 18 songs in the performance have been carefully selected to create a powerful and moving experience that speaks to the heart of the community.

Tickets for Imagine can be purchased at uptownplayers.org and brucewooddance.org. The Arts Access journalism initiative, a collaboration between The Dallas Morning News and KERA, has provided coverage of the production. The initiative is funded by the Better Together Fund, Carol & Don Glendenning, City of Dallas OAC, The University of Texas at Dallas, Communities Foundation of Texas, The Dallas Foundation, Eugene McDermott Foundation, James & Gayle Halperin Foundation, Jennifer & Peter Altabef, and The Meadows Foundation.
