Dan Harmon, creator of Rick and Morty, expresses openness to various possibilities, hinting at the potential for a well-crafted musical episode in the series.

After seven acclaimed seasons and another on the horizon, the sci-fi animated series Rick and Morty has tackled a multitude of themes and adventures. Ahead of the Season 8 premiere, co-creator Dan Harmon and showrunner Scott Marder were asked about remaining items on their conceptual wishlist, including a potential full-blown musical.

Harmon expressed that while the idea hadn't been executed, it was not necessarily ruled out. "That's an example of something that I wouldn't take off the table," he said. However, he noted that forcing such concepts into the narrative would be unwise.

During his time in the writers' room for Community, Harmon recounted listing out group wishes, including a musical episode, which sometimes resulted in less than ideal final products. "If that's the only impetus, then maybe don't do that," he advised, stating that Rick and Morty tends to approach such ideas with caution.

Despite not yet having produced a musical episode, Harmon maintained a positive outlook, stating that a well-crafted musical episode was a possibility. He even entertained relatively unconventional ideas, such as an episode without dialogue or one filmed in a single take, similar to a silent movie.

While the details surrounding these innovative ideas remain unknown, Harmon and Marder laughed at the prospect of tackling such concepts. Harmon concluded by emphasizing their commitment to quality, stating, "No edits!"
