Dampha Kitchen Brings Afro-Latin Fusion to Vienna's Dining Scene

A new Afro-Latin fusion restaurant, Dampha Kitchen, has opened in Vienna's 16th district. Blending West African flavours with Latin American dishes, it offers a unique dining experience. From May to September, enjoy the food at a seasonal summer spot at Copa Beach.

The restaurant, located at Payergasse 10, serves meals from Tuesday to Friday between 11 AM and 11 PM. On weekends, it opens earlier at 8 AM, with breakfast available until 1 PM. The menu combines Latin staples like pimientos de Padrón, tacos, and empanadas with African classics such as fried cassava and jollof rice.

Empanadas have become a standout, thanks to their thick cornmeal crust and tangy mayo, priced at €6.50. Another favourite is the peanut butter chicken, served with cassava and rice for €14. The jollof rice, a West African staple, also draws praise at the same price. However, the tacos receive criticism for their dry, crumbly tortillas and lack of seasoning, costing €11.

For dessert, the crema catalana surprises with an unusual spiced twist, likely inspired by the restaurant's fusion approach. Diners can find more details and updates on the official website, damphakitchen.com.

Dampha Kitchen offers a mix of bold flavours from two continents in Vienna. The summer pop-up at Copa Beach extends the dining experience until September. With a range of dishes and extended weekend hours, the restaurant provides a distinct option for those seeking something beyond traditional European cuisine.
