Damian Lillard Expresses Contentment with Portland Trail Blazers: "I've Never Been More Satisfied in Portland"
Damian Lillard Returns to Portland Trail Blazers After Two Seasons with Milwaukee Brewers
After a two-year stint with the Milwaukee Brewers, Damian Lillard is set to return to his roots with the Portland Trail Blazers. The 36-year-old point guard, who spent the first 11 years of his career with Portland, expressed his joy and gratitude about rejoining the team.
Lillard's tenure with the Brewers was marked by individual success, earning All-Star selections in each of his two seasons. However, his time in Milwaukee was cut short due to a season-ending injury. In Game 4 of the Brewers' first-round playoff series, Lillard suffered a tear of his left Achilles tendon.
Prior to his injury, Lillard had a solid season with the Brewers, averaging 24.9 points, 4.7 rebounds, 7.1 assists, 1.2 steals, and 36.1 minutes per game. He shot 44.8% from the floor and 37.6% from 3-point range.
Despite his impressive performance, Lillard might not play like his younger self again when he returns to the court. He turned 32 years old during his time with the Brewers and will be 36 when he can return to the Trail Blazers in 2026.
Lillard's last season with Portland was his most productive to date. In the 2022-23 campaign, he averaged a career-high 32.2 points on a career-best-tying 46.3% shooting from the field and 37.1% from beyond the arc.
The Trail Blazers signed Lillard to a three-year, $42 million deal this summer. Lillard, who has started running four months after his injury and feels strong, plans to take his time to fully heal and get his body in shape before returning to the floor.
Lillard made the statement during a recent appearance on the "The Sideline with Andy Katz" podcast. The Portland Trail Blazers and their fans are eagerly awaiting the return of their star player. Lillard, for his part, is "extremely happy" and "thankful" to be playing for the Trail Blazers again.
