Dallas freezes under prolonged subzero temperatures through Tuesday
Dallas is grappling with severe cold conditions, with temperatures poised to linger below freezing until at least Tuesday morning. The city has implemented widespread closures and service alterations to ensure public safety during the harsh weather.
All public library branches will remain shut, including the Dallas Central Library's Vital Statistics office. Residents can still peruse the library catalog online at DallasLibrary.org. The Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center and the West Dallas Multipurpose Center will also stay closed.
The Dallas Municipal Court has suspended operations, postponing all court cases and jury duty scheduled for Tuesday. City Hall will be inaccessible to the public, and every city meeting planned for Tuesday has been called off. Public safety services and other essential operations will continue as usual.
Sanitation collections—including garbage, recycling, and brush pickups—were cancelled on Monday. Minor roadwork is still expected to take place, but overnight refreezing will likely make conditions slippery. The severe cold warning is forecast to persist through February 1, with temperatures gradually rising later on Tuesday.

The city has adapted services to safeguard residents during the freezing weather. Crucial operations remain active, but non-essential facilities and meetings have been halted. Conditions should improve by Tuesday afternoon, though temperatures will stay low across much of northern US.
