Sports Roundup: Wyoming and Colorado Teams Shine

In the world of sports, the week saw several notable performances from teams across Wyoming and Colorado. Here's a roundup of some of the key events.

Football

The University of Wyoming Football team suffered a home loss against Utah, with Terron Kellman scoring the lone touchdown for the Cowboys. Meanwhile, Quarterback Kaden Anderson was 12 of 23 passing for 108 yards and threw 1 interception. On the other hand, Sheridan High School Football continued their winning streak, defeating Natrona County 34-7 at home, with Breck Reed scoring 3 touchdowns. Sheridan High School Football is currently 3-0 on the season and will play Cheyenne East next.

High School Football

Big Horn High School Football had a dominating victory over Wheatland, winning 59-0. Big Horn High School Football will play Newcastle next. Tongue River High School Football lost 12-6 at Burns and will play Moorcroft next. The High School football team that has won the Wyoming state championship against Cheyenne East in the last three seasons is the Campbell County High School football team.

Cross Country

The Michelle Ludwig Invitational for cross country will take place at the Sheridan VA Medical Facility this coming Saturday, with the first varsity race starting at 11am. Eli Balkenbush of Sheridan High School placed 5th in the boys race, and Lyla Marney of Big Horn High School placed 6th in the girls race. Sheridan and Big Horn cross country teams competed in a meet in Bozeman, Montana.

Volleyball

The Sheridan High School Volleyball team had a successful week, winning 3-1 against Cheyenne East and Cheyenne Central. They will host Laramie on Saturday and play Cheyenne South at home next. The Lady Panthers are next scheduled to play at Buffalo against a JV opponent, as well as Friday at home vs. Kaycee and on Saturday at home vs. Hulett.

Baseball

Blaine Crim and Kyle Farmer hit home runs for the Colorado Rockies in their win on Friday, while Mickey Moniak hit 2 home runs for the Colorado Rockies in their loss yesterday. The Colorado Rockies have an off day today and will begin their final home stand of the season tomorrow, playing 3 games against Miami, followed by 3 games against the LA Angels.

Golf

The Sheridan High School golf team will represent at the state meet for golf. The Sheridan boys golf team placed 3rd and the girls were 5th at the 4A East Qualifier Meet. The 2-day state meet for golf is this coming Friday and Saturday. The 4A meet for golf will be in Cheyenne, the 3A meet will be in Cody and the 2A meet will be at Douglas.

Junior Hockey

The Sheridan Hawks Junior Hockey team split a 2-game road trip, winning on Friday 6-3 and losing on Saturday 2-1. The Sheridan Hawks will conclude their season opening 6-game road trip this coming Friday and Saturday with games at Cody.

Other Results

Arvada-Clearmont went 2-4 at the Southeast Jamboree, and Kaycee also went 2-4 at the Southeast Jamboree. The Lady Eagles are scheduled to play on Friday at Sundance and on Saturday at 3A Lovell, and the Lady Bison are next scheduled to play Friday at Burns and on Saturday at home vs. Newcastle.

In other sports news, the Denver Broncos lost their game yesterday against Indianapolis due to a leverage penalty, with the final score being 29-28. The Colorado Rockies lost 3 out of 4 games this past weekend at San Diego. Buffalo ended up going 0-5 at the Rawlins Invitational.
