Daily Sports Update: August 8, 2025

Sheridan County is gearing up for an exciting sports season, with various teams preparing for their opening games and competitions.

The Sheridan County High School football season kicks off on Friday, August 29, 2025, with their first game scheduled to be an away game at Cheyenne South.

Meanwhile, tennis competition can start as early as one week from tomorrow, with Gillette taking on Idaho Falls today at 7pm. Golf competition is also set to begin as early as Wednesday. Sheridan County High School teams will compete in golf on Thursday and Friday at Powell.

In other news, the Denver Broncos are ready to play their first exhibition game of the season, with their game LIVE on Fox Sports 106.3 FM. The 4-time defending state champ Bronc football team will begin 2-a-day practices at 7am on Monday. The Broncos will play tomorrow at San Francisco, with kickoff scheduled for 6pm.

On the baseball front, the Colorado Rockies are starting a 6-game road trip today. They will play three games at Arizona, followed by three games at St. Louis. Today's game starts at 7:40pm, and tomorrow's game begins at 6:10pm.

Elsewhere, the Mustangs will play in the second round today vs. Montana Champ Bitterroot, located out of Hamilton at 7pm. At the A-League Northwest Regional Tournament in Burley, Idaho, Lovell won their first round game against the host team 6-2.

Big Horn and Tongue River are scheduled to compete in golf on Friday at Upton and on Saturday at Thermopolis.
