Wyoming Cowboys and Sheridan High School Football Teams Gear Up for New Seasons

The Wyoming Cowboys and Sheridan High School's football teams are getting ready for their respective seasons, with each team having unique objectives and challenges ahead.

The Cowboys are halfway through their practice period before their first game, scheduled for two weeks from now at Akron. The team is preparing intensely, with an open scrimmage set for tomorrow at 7:30pm.

Meanwhile, Sheridan High School's football team, with a rich history of success, is aiming high for the 2025 season. The team, coached by the legendary Larry “Bud” Wright, has won nine state championships under his guidance. Although the specific goal for this season is not explicitly stated, given the program's history and tradition of success, it is reasonable to infer that maintaining a high level of competitiveness and striving for another state championship would be their aim.

Senior Breck Reed mentioned that the first practice helped players re-learn how to enjoy the game, while senior Rudy Green stated that the initial practice was the hardest part due to pre-season aches and pains. A large group of seniors are expected to return for this season, which bodes well for the team's prospects.

Elsewhere, the Colorado Rockies are looking to build on their recent victory. After ending an 8-game losing streak by winning last night at St. Louis 3-zip, the team will try to win another game against the St. Louis Cardinals today, starting at 12:15pm. After this match, the Rockies will return to Denver for an 8-game homestand beginning tomorrow.

Starting pitcher for the Colorado Rockies in their last game was Kyle Freeland, who pitched for 7 1/3rd innings. Notably, Hunter Goodman hit a 2-run home run for the Rockies in their victory.

Sheridan High School's first game of the 2025 season will be on Friday, August 29th at Cheyenne South. The Wyoming Cowboys' first game is still two weeks away, but the anticipation is building as both teams prepare for their seasons.
