Today's Connections (game #730) - The Answers
The answers to today's Connections, game #730, are as follows:
- YELLOW: ARBITRATE CHAIR, JUDGE, MEDIATE, MODERATE
- BLUE: 1980s SLANG CHILL, PSYCH, RADICAL, WORD
- GREEN: DIAGRAMS CHART, IMAGE, TABLE, TEXT BOX
- PURPLE: CITIZENSHIP OBLIGATIONS CIVIC, CUSTOMS, HEAVY, JURY
- My Rating: Intense
- My Score: 2 mistakes
DIAGRAMS felt familiar, almost like a professional setup. Perhaps that's why it stood out for me.
I made two mistakes today while trying to place HEAVY in the '80s Slang category. After numerous attempts and rearrangements, I realized my error and removed HEAVY from the group.
The error came from associating HEAVY with the cliche 1980s culture, where a serious, weighty issue was prevalent. Yet, HEAVYis no longer reserved for the 1980s and is now part of everyday language, with a modern connotation in the United Kingdom and elsewhere. In all iterations of the word, it's best to avoid heavy occasions or situations.
