The answers to Today's Strands (game #463)
- MASK
- CAMOUFLAGE
- DISGUISE
- CLOAK
- COVER
- FACADE
- SPANGRAM: FALSE FRONT
- My rating: Moderate
- My score: 1 hint
I needed a hint to kickstart my gameplay on this one. The word MASK was my first win, leading me to chase CAMOUFLAGE and DISGUISE.
It turns out that the SPANGRAM term, a relatively new one in my book, is notorious in cities for false fronts.[6][7][8]Say for instance, a theatre in London went from blooming to dilapidated, under redevelopment for years. The back of the theatre was knocked down, leaving only the front—a facade. Unfortunately, along the way, something structurally went pear-shaped, causing a complete replacement of the facade using the original art deco design. In the end, none of the original building remained, much like a FALSE FRONT.
