The mysteries of the spangram in Strands
Today's spangram is ALLABOARD, the call train conductors often make as passengers board the train.

Solving the Strands puzzle, step by step
I'm not really sure what I'm looking for today. Words related to trains, maybe? Or some sort of training?
I see the word BOARD at the bottom, but it doesn't seem to fit. Wait, it strikes me that the spangram might be ALLABOARD. Yep! Trains it is.
CABOOSE is placed above the right half of the spangram. 🔵
Now I'm realizing I'm not familiar with other train words.

HOPPER is a fit, found above the left side of the spangram. 🔵 (It apparently refers to a kind of train car.)
BOXCAR is located in the upper right corner. 🔵
FLATBED is below BOXCAR. 🔵
GONDOLA is along the left edge. 🔵
Lastly, ENGINE. 🔵
Master the art of Strands
To play Strands, visit the New York Times website or download the NYT Games app.
When you start playing, you'll see a game board filled with letters and a clue hinting at the theme. Your task is to find the hidden words within the board that reflect the puzzle's theme.
Strands: where crosswords meet word searches
The main goal is to discover the spangram, a word that clearly expresses the puzzle's theme—for example, the spangram for a puzzle themed "Literature Classics" could be BOOKSHELF. The spangram spans the entire game board, horizontally or vertically (hence the name). When you locate the spangram, it will be highlighted in yellow. Typically, finding the spangram makes the rest of the puzzle much more approachable.
In Strands, words can travel in any direction—up, down, left, right, or diagonally—and you'll only use each letter once. There is only one valid solution. Once you correctly guess a hidden word, it will be highlighted in blue.
If you're facing trouble solving the puzzle, you can submit words of at least four letters to claim hints. If you submit three non-theme words, the "Hint" button will be clickable; if you click it, all the letters in one of the theme words will be highlighted for you. Even so, you'll need to arrange these highlighted letters in the correct sequence to identify the theme word. If there's already a hint on the board and you use another hint before solving for the word, that word's letter sequence will be revealed.
Secure victory in Strands
Unlike Connections and Wordle, you can't fail Strands. When you make guesses, either the correct answers will be highlighted, hints will be earned, or the text will shake from side to side, indicating incorrect guesses. You'll never run out of guesses, and there's no time limit. You win once you've correctly used all the letters on the board, meaning that you've discovered the spangram and all of the theme words. Like other NYT games, after solving the puzzle, you'll see a shareable card displaying how well you performed that day. Blue dots 🔵 indicate theme words found, the yellow dot 🟡 shows when the spangram was located, and a lightbulb 💡 shows words for which hints were used.
