How I Solved Today's Strands
The puzzle theme could be about evolution or things that are linked, like jewelry or meat products. I spotted SALAMI in the lower left corner, and that's a winner! 🎉 Meat, here we go!

KIELBASA perches above SALAMI. 🎉
SAUSAGE is a non-theme word, but SAUSAGES disguises itself as the Spangram. 💛
CHORIZO resides below the Spangram. 🎉
ANDOUILLE snuggles up in the upper left corner. 🎉
Lastly, LIVERWURST. 🎉
How to Play Strands
Catch the Strands game on the New York Times website or in the NYT Games app.
When you kick things off, you'll see a board with a bunch of letters and a clue that hints at the puzzle's theme, like "Better with age." Your mission is to find the hidden words on the board that reflect the puzzle's theme.
Crossword meets word search
The most essential word to find is the "Spangram," the word that explicitly states the puzzle's theme. (For example, the Spangram for a puzzle with the theme "Better with age" would be FERMENTED.) The Spangram stretches across the entire board either horizontally or vertically (hence its name). When you find the Spangram, it'll be highlighted in yellow. Discovering the Spangram typically makes the remaining puzzle a breeze.
In Strands, words can move in any direction (up, down, left, right, and diagonally), and you'll use each letter only once. There is only one correct solution. Once you identify one of the puzzle's words (for example, KOMBUCHA, MISO, or KIMCHI), it will be highlighted in blue.
If you're feeling stuck, submit any four-letter or longer non-theme words to receive hint credit. If you submit three non-theme words, the "Hint" button will activate; if you click it, all the letters in one of the theme words will be highlighted for you. You'll still have to link these highlighted letters in the proper order to create one of the theme words. If there's already a hint on the board and you use another hint before solving for that word, the word's letter order will be revealed.
How to Win Strands
Unlike Connections and Wordle, you can't lose Strands! Submitting guesses will either lead you to an answer, grant you hint credit, or make the text jiggle back and forth, indicating that the word you submitted is too short or invalid. You can't run out of guesses, nor is there a time limit.
You win when you've used up all the letters on the board, meaning that you've discovered the Spangram and all the theme words. Like other NYT games, upon solving the puzzle, you'll see a sharable card telling you how you performed that day: blue dots indicate theme words found, the yellow dot indicates the Spangram, and a lightbulb indicates words you received a hint for.
