Sheridan Broncs Extend Winning Streaks in Football and Tennis

The Sheridan Broncs are gearing up for an exciting weekend in sports, with both the boys' and girls' tennis teams scheduled to play at a jamboree in Casper on Saturday. Meanwhile, the football team is preparing for the upcoming season, aiming to extend their impressive winning streaks.

In football, the Sheridan Broncs hold the current longest home winning streak in Wyoming high school football history, with an impressive 28 consecutive home wins. This streak is tied for the 3rd longest home winning streak in the state. The team is also on a 43-game overall winning streak, a Wyoming state record and the 5th longest active winning streak in the nation.

The 2025 football season for the Sheridan Broncs is set to begin on Friday, August 29th, with the season opener against Cheyenne South. The team's home opener is scheduled for Friday, September 5th, against Thunder Basin. Other home opponents for the Broncs include Natrona County, Cheyenne Central, and Laramie.

In tennis, the boys' team finished as the state runners-up last year, and their home opener is just a week away, on Saturday, August 23rd, against Laramie. The girls' tennis team also had a strong showing last season, finishing as the 4A State Runners-Up.

Elsewhere in sports, the Wyoming Legion Baseball season has come to an end, and the Colorado Rockies are struggling, having lost 7 games in a row. However, the Denver Broncos had a successful pre-season opener, defeating San Francisco 30-9. The backup quarterbacks for the Broncos accounted for 3 touchdowns in the game, and quarterback Sam Ehlinger also threw a touchdown, connecting with Caden Prieskorn. Will Lutz had 3 field goals for the team, and one of quarterback Jarrett Stidham's touchdowns was to Lucas Krull, and the other was to Trent Sherfield Senior. The defense held San Francisco to 1 of 12 on 3rd down conversions, picked off 3 passes, and recovered 1 fumble.

The Tongue River girls' golf team finished 3rd in Class 2A last year, and the Sheridan girls' golf team was the 4A State Runners-Up. Practice for all classes of golf and tennis starts today, preparing for the upcoming season. The Broncos' next pre-season game is this coming Saturday at home vs. Arizona.
