The Slump of Daddy Freeze's MC Empire: A Casualty of Clashing with Nigerian Clergy
"Daddy Freeze Discloses Business Downturn Following Criticism of Nigerian Clergy"
In a revealing interview with Stephen Akintayo on the Leadership podcast, notorious Nigerian media personality Ifedayo Olarinde, popularly known as Daddy Freeze, spilled the beans about the downfall of his Master of Ceremonies (MC) business. This decline, he claimed, was a direct consequence of his bold criticisms directed at Nigerian pastors.
According to our website, Daddy Freeze vividly described the situation, detailing how his lucrative MC career took a nosedive. At the time when a dollar was approximately ₦150, Daddy Freeze boasted impressive earnings of ₦1.5 million per event. He further disclosed that he used to rake in approximately $60,000 annually from this business segment alone, securing international bookings worth up to $10,000 once every two months[1].
However, since 2019, Daddy Freeze has not enjoyed a single MC gig. He expressed his frustration, stating, "When I came after the Nigerian pastors, at the initial stage, I lost 100% of my business... Since 2019 till now, I haven't got an MC job."
He recounted a particularly unusual incident where he lost a potential job due to public backlash. "I had one gig, but after they paid upfront and the flier went viral, people said they were not going to attend the event. And the guy had to call and inform me, and when I told him that we had already agreed, he said if it is about the upfront payment, you can keep it," he explained[2].
