Dad-of-Six Turns £4,000 Profit Selling Old DVDs

A resourceful dad-of-six from the UK has turned a tidy profit by selling old CDs and DVDs. He made nearly £4,000 using a platform called MusicMagpie, proving that even outdated media can be valuable.

The man, who wishes to remain anonymous, started his selling spree by pricing his items reasonably. He soon discovered that certain DVDs could fetch high prices due to their rarity, limited editions, or nostalgic value. For instance, he sold a Carry On Film Collection box set for around £350 and a Monty Python and the Holy Grail Limited Edition Castle Box set for up to £300.

To determine the best achievable price, he researched similar items' past selling prices. He also explored the possibility of selling his DVDs on platforms like Facebook Marketplace, eBay, CEX, and MusicMagpie. His success story comes at a time when the popularity of vinyl records is surging, and there's speculation that CDs might also make a comeback.

The dad-of-six's experience demonstrates that it's worth exploring if DVDs are gaining in selling price before getting rid of them. Even seemingly outdated media can be valuable due to factors like rarity and nostalgia. His success on MusicMagpie shows that there's a market for such items, with high-value DVDs like Blade Runner's Ultimate collector's edition and The Godfather box set both valued at £300.
