Cyclone Carlotta Formation Warnings Issued for Guerrero, Michoacán, and Oaxaca Regions
A potential cyclone named "Carlotta" is currently making its way west-northwest across the Pacific Ocean, with a higher probability of formation compared to other low-pressure zones in the region.
According to the National Meteorological Service (SMN), a low-pressure zone associated with "Carlotta" has a 50% chance of cyclonic development in the next 48 hours, and a significantly higher 70% probability in 7 days. This is in contrast to other low-pressure zones, such as one southwest of the Baja California peninsula, which has a 10% probability of cyclonic development in 48 hours and 30% in 7 days.
The low-pressure zone associated with "Carlotta" is located approximately 520 km south-southwest of Acapulco, Gro, and 1,850 km southwest of Cabo San Lucas, BCS. If it does develop into a cyclone, it could potentially run parallel to the Pacific coastline, similar to Cyclone "Pamela".
Another low-pressure zone, associated with tropical wave number 14, is also located south of Guerrero and Michoacán. This zone has a 50% probability of cyclonic development in the next 48 hours and a 70% chance in 7 days, making it a strong contender for development into "Carlotta".
In addition to these two low-pressure zones, a third area south of Chiapas, Oaxaca, and Guerrero is expected to form with a 70% chance of cyclonic development in 7 days.
If "Carlotta" does form, it could potentially lead to the affected states of Guerrero, Michoacán, and Oaxaca. However, it is important to note that the current potential trajectories of "Carlotta" are not specified.
As of August 28, 2025, the SMN has not issued any official forecasts for Tropical Storm Carlotta. For the latest updates, it is advisable to consult the SMN or official meteorological websites directly.
