Remco Evenepoel and Geraint Thomas Set to Compete in the Tour of Britain

Remco Evenepoel, the Belgian cycling sensation, has confirmed his participation in the Tour of Britain, marking his final outings for Soudal Quick-Step. This year's race, which runs from September 2 to September 7, will see Evenepoel compete alongside Geraint Thomas, who announced that the Tour of Britain Men will be his final race of his illustrious career.

The Tour of Britain Men will begin in Woodbridge, Suffolk, and culminate in the Welsh capital, Cardiff. The full route for this year's race has been revealed, and it promises a challenging course with three punchy finishes.

Evenepoel's move to Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe for the 2026 season has been long anticipated, and he will join a team boasting multiple Grand Tour contenders such as Primož Roglič and Jai Hindley. Before his departure, Evenepoel has a busy schedule lined up.

In addition to the Tour of Britain, he is planning to ride both the World Championship road race and time trial in Rwanda at the end of September. His aim is to defend his ITT rainbow jersey and reclaim the road title, a feat he achieved a month before the Tour of Britain last year when he won both the Olympic Games road race and time trial in Paris.

However, Evenepoel struggled in the cooler conditions of the Tour of Britain last year, as he had been training in Spain with high temperatures. The absence of any time trials in this year's race may offer a different challenge.

Geraint Thomas, a four-time Tour de France champion, will also be participating in the Tour of Britain. He will be honored in his home town of Cardiff on the final stage of the race. The make-up of the seven-man teams for both riders has not yet been announced.

Evenepoel's final races with Soudal Quick-Step will include the 2025 Tour of Britain, the 2025 UCI Road World Championships in Rwanda, and several other notable races such as the Tour de Romandie, the Tour de France, and Liège-Bastogne-Liège.

This year's Tour of Britain promises to be an exciting event, with two of the world's top cyclists, Evenepoel and Thomas, set to compete. Stay tuned for more updates on this highly anticipated race.
