French cycling sensation Pauline Ferrand-Prévot, fresh from claiming the Paris-Roubaix title, is halting her cycling spree in the Tour of Spain. Le Casse-Pédale (Visma-Lease a bike) has announced that the French champion won't be participating in the fifth stage, a 120km ride between Golmayo and Lagunas de Neila, on Thursday, May 8.

She's hanging up her helmet, prematurely ending her journey while she was outranked by 58 seconds in the general classification by Femke Gerritse of SD Worx-Protime. In the Puerto de El Buste climb the previous day, Pauline lost around ten crucial seconds compared to her rivals.
On her Instagram, Pauline shared her struggles, confessing that she's been grappling with an ankle infection since her triumph at Roubaix, which affected her recovery and overall fitness for the stage race.
