Cyclist Pauline Ferrand-Prévot clinches the women's Tour de France, marking the first French triumph since 1989 in this race.

Pauline Ferrand-Prevot, a French professional cyclist, has added another significant achievement to her illustrious career by becoming the first French rider to win the modern women's Tour de France. The victory came in the fourth edition of the race, held on the border with Switzerland.

Ferrand-Prevot, an Olympic champion and a multi-discipline world champion, took the yellow jersey from Kimberley Le Court on Saturday during the final stage of the Tour de France. The 124.1km ride from Praz-sur-Arly to Chatel was a challenging one, but Ferrand-Prevot held steady throughout, and launched a decisive attack in the last seven kilometers to secure her victory.

Ferrand-Prevot's Tour de France victory comes after a series of impressive triumphs in various cycling disciplines. She has won 15 world titles in total, including five XCO cross-country world titles, two XCM marathon world titles, two XCC short track world titles, and team relay world titles. Her achievements span across road cycling, mountain bike (cross-country, marathon, short track), cyclocross, and gravel cycling, making her a rare multi-discipline world champion.

Lorena Wiebes, a member of Team SD Worx-Protime, led the points classification since stage three of the Tour de France. However, she did not chase the leading group, putting her on track to win the green jersey. Wiebes' performance could potentially deny Marianne Vos, a member of Visma-Lease a Bike, a third Tour title in the points classification.

Demi Vollering finished second overall in the Tour de France, with Ferrand-Prevot winning the final stage ahead of her. Jeannie Longo, who won the title in the former race, the Tour de France Féminin, 36 years ago, watched as history was made once more in the world of women's cycling.

Ferrand-Prevot's Tour de France victory is a significant achievement in her career as an athlete, adding another prestigious title to her impressive collection. Her multi-discipline prowess and consistent success make her a formidable force in the world of cycling.

Sports have always been a significant part of Ferrand-Prevot's impressive career, with her latest achievement being the victory in the modern women's Tour de France. Demonstrating her versatility, she has won numerous world titles across various cycling disciplines, including road cycling, mountain bike, cyclocross, and gravel cycling.
