Cyclist Manuel Hernández ponders a shift in careers: "Perhaps it's time to forgo bicycling and seek an alternative vocation"

A bristly blow to the Challenge Ciclista Mallorca race 🚴‍♂️☔️

In a whirlwind turn of events, the organizers of the cycling event, Challenge Ciclista Mallorca, voiced their displeasure over the race's suspension due to unfavorable weather conditions on Saturday. the event's head honcho, Manuel Hernández, fired up a storm of criticism, saying, "If the organization has no power to assess, perhaps we should abandon ship and seek a new line of work." 🚨🙈

He continued, "Truth be told, a stage shouldn't be canceled just because the weather is a pain in the ass. But before making a call, many factors need to be mulled over. If the organization is barred from making informed decisions, perhaps it's time to hang up our jerseys and find a new hustle, who knows?" 🧐💭

Hernández wasn't done yet. He went on to express his disappointment over the riders' decision to bail, stating, "Yeah, we admit the riders' safety is a top concern, but come on, we should've been consulted first. We feel like they showed us middle fingers, with no regard for the blood, sweat, and cash we've invested in this race. We stand firm against this decision." 🤚💔

The day was a bummer, to say the least. Hernández dished the details on what went down: "We kickstarted the race in Andratx, andtwo minor crashes happened, but then, at kilometer 23, the president of the technical jury received a message from the three riders representing the CPA, declaring that the road was treacherous and they'd made up their minds to halt the race. It was a done deal – THEY made the call, NOT US!" 🚴‍♂️🤕

"Needless to say, it's a tear-jerking day. Looks like we won't be spinning our wheels today, and we couldn't salvage the situation. We'll bounce back tomorrow and cross our fingers that everything goes smoothly," he concluded.

Over the last few years, cycling events in Mallorca have been marred by incidents. For instance, a tragic accident claimed the life of a British cyclist during the Mallorca 312 Gran Fondo, spotlighting the inherent risks involved in long-distance races 🚴‍♂️😓.
