Cyclist Lorena Wiebes secures her second win in stage 4 of the Tour de France Femmes, with Marianne Vos hot on her heels in a close chase.
In a thrilling display of sprinting prowess, Lorena Wiebes of SD Worx-Protime triumphed in Stage 4 of the 2025 Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift. The 130.7 km race, held on July 29 from Saumur to Poitiers, was a flat affair with only one categorised climb, offering another opportunity for the sprinters to shine.
The stage was marked by crosswinds that created splits and demanded strategic positioning from riders. Visma-Lease a Bike and SD Worx-Protime led out the race as it moved into Poitiers, setting the stage for an exciting finale.
The peloton split into three distinct groups as the pace slowed to 21km/h, but Maud Rijnbeek was the first rider to break out of the main pack. The Brazilian Movistar rider took the top two points at the Cote de Margny category 4 climb.
As the race approached its climax, Marianne Vos arranged herself on the wheel of Wiebes in anticipation of the intermediate sprint. Koch took the 25 points in the intermediate sprint, with Magalhaes just behind. However, it was Wiebes who emerged victorious in the final sprint, finishing just half a bike length ahead of Vos to secure her second win of the Tour so far. Marianne Vos finished second, with UAE Team ADQ's Lara Gillespie coming in third.
Anna van der Breggen, Wiebes' teammate, led her out in the final meters of the race, ensuring a strong finish for the Dutch sprinter. The victory was Wiebes' second in two days and her fifth overall Tour stage win.
The top 10 in the general classification after stage 4 includes Marianne Vos, Lorena Wiebes, Kim Le Court, Pauline Ferrand-Prevot, Kasia Niewiadoma-Phinney, Demi Vollering, Anna van der Breggen, Puck Pieterse, Niamh Fisher-Black, and Chloé Dygert. Vos maintains her overall lead in the GC, with a 12-second advantage over Wiebes.
The upcoming stages are expected to be more challenging, with hillier terrains that will test the climbers and intensify the GC battle. The riders will undoubtedly bring their A-game as they fight for podium positions in the remaining stages of the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift.
