Cyclist Lorena Wiebes outpaces competition on Stage 4 of the Tour de France Femmes, with Marianne Vos hot on her heels.
The Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift, the women's edition of the prestigious cycling race, continued to captivate audiences with its fourth stage. This year, the event has expanded to nine days of racing, marking its fourth year and highlighting elite women's professional road cycling.
In a thrilling finish, Lorena Wiebes emerged victorious in stage 4, securing her second consecutive stage victory after a fierce sprint battle with Marianne Vos.
The stage offered another chance for the sprinters, and the course was flat, except for a categorised climb in the second half of the race. The Dutch rider was led out by Anna van der Breggen before the finish line, giving her a powerful boost towards the victory.
The breakaway trio of Maud Rijnbeek, Franziska Koch, and Ana Vitória Magalhães maintained a lead of 1:46 over the peloton during the stage. However, the peloton reassembled after the sprint, with teams like Visma-Lease a Bike and SD Worx-Protime leading out the race.
The Brazilian Movistar rider took the top two points on offer at the Cote de Margny category 4 climb. Eline Jansen came in fourth place in the stage, while Chloé Dygert finished fifth. The intermediate sprint saw Koch take the 25 points, with Magalhaes just behind.
In the general classification, Marianne Vos maintains the overall lead, with Lorena Wiebes in second, 12 seconds behind. Kasia Niewiadoma-Phinney is fifth, 22 seconds behind the leader. Franziska Koch and Ana Vitória Magalhães also joined Rijnbeek in the race lead.
Meanwhile, Marianne Vos came in second, with UAE Team ADQ's Lara Gillespie in third. The win marks Wiebes' fifth total Tour stage win, adding another impressive feat to her cycling career.
The Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift also includes activities like "L'Étape du Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift," an amateur public ride experience on the same roads as the professionals, highlighting high participation and international interest. The race continues to grow in length and popularity, making it an exciting event for cycling enthusiasts worldwide.
