Cyclist Hit and Run: Driver Flees After Collision on Ludendorfer Street
A 60-year-old cyclist was struck by a vehicle while riding on Ludendorfer Street towards Ollheim yesterday afternoon around 15:50. The driver of the vehicle, estimated to be between 30 and 40 years old, failed to yield and fled the scene.
The cyclist was riding towards Ollheim when a car, turning left onto Route 61, collided with the cyclist. The car, with a license plate starting with 'SU', hit the cyclist on the right side, causing the cyclist to fall and sustain minor injuries. The driver of the car, whose exact age remains unknown, did not stop and fled the scene.
The local police, responsible for the area around Ludendorfer Street and Ollheim, are investigating the incident. They urge anyone with information to come forward. Witnesses reported the car turning without yielding to the cyclist, indicating the driver's negligence.
The cyclist was taken to hospital with minor injuries. The police are appealing for witnesses to help identify the driver and the car, which has a license plate starting with 'SU'. The driver's failure to stop and render aid is a serious offence. The police remind drivers to always check for cyclists and other vulnerable road users before turning.
