Demi Vollering Remains in the Race After Stage 3 Crash at Tour de France Femmes

Demi Vollering, the Dutch cyclist, has been cleared to continue in the 2025 Tour de France Femmes following a crash in stage 3. Despite suffering from multiple contusions and pain in her knee, back, and glutes, Vollering was declared concussion-free after undergoing multiple medical checks, including a second concussion protocol.

The crash occurred near the end of stage 3 in a mass pile-up about 3.6-3.7km from the finish line. Vollering was visibly hurt and had skin suit damage, but she remained determined to start stage 4. Her team remained vigilant of her condition during warm-up and the race itself.

Vollering's team, FDJ-SUEZ, provided significant support. Juliette Labous and Elise Chabbey rode with her to the line on stage 4. Chabbey had assessed the task ahead on stage 4 before the race.

Despite the crash, Vollering has continued racing. She felt good during the 130.7km stage to Poitiers and was able to keep her head up. However, she did experience neck pain and discomfort during a short session on the trainer.

Vollering finished in 43rd place, on the same time as winner Lorena Wiebes. Notably, Vollering did not repeat the time loss experienced in the stage 5 incident in 2024, where she plunged out of yellow and had a 1:19 deficit to the winner.

The Tour de France Femmes is being held in Saumur this year. Despite the tension due to another sprint stage with sharp bends in the final kilometre, the atmosphere at the team bus after the stage felt close to normal. Vollering urged to look forward day by day.
