Isaac Del Toro Wins Vuelta a Burgos 2025

Mexican cycling sensation Isaac Del Toro has claimed victory in the prestigious Vuelta a Burgos 2025, marking another significant milestone in his meteoric rise to the top of the professional cycling world.

The 21-year-old, who hails from Ensenada, Baja California, has been turning heads with his impressive performances this season. Riding for UAE Team Emirates – XRG, Del Toro has showcased his climbing ability and explosive acceleration, earning him the reputation as a promising General Classification (GC) rider.

Del Toro's journey to victory in the Vuelta a Burgos was not without its challenges. In the final stage, he encountered a puncture during the descent of the Alto de Rozavientos. However, he managed to overcome this setback and maintain his lead, demonstrating his resilience and determination.

Earlier in the race, Del Toro had also faced difficulties in the Orduna climb during the first mountain stage. But he persevered, and his efforts were rewarded with the overall title, securing a 19-second margin over Lorenzo Fortunato, an Italian cyclist.

The stage win in Lagunas de Neila was claimed by Giulio Ciccone, an Italian cyclist who had won the Clásica de San Sebastián a week before the Vuelta a Burgos. Meanwhile, Leo Bisiaux, a French cyclist who had led the race, was dropped in the tough climbs of Lagunas de Neila. Bisiaux finished the Vuelta a Burgos on the podium with a 25-second deficit to the winner, Del Toro.

Carlos García Pierna, a local cyclist from the Burgos team, took the mountain prize in the final stage.

Del Toro's victory in the Vuelta a Burgos follows a series of impressive achievements this season. He has already secured seven wins, including the Clàssica Terres de l’Ebre, and has finished second overall in the Giro d’Italia.

Del Toro's rapid rise from national prospect to internationally recognized talent has been well documented. He won the 2023 Tour de l'Avenir and finished second overall in the 2025 Giro d’Italia. He also won the overall classification, along with points, mountain, and young rider classifications, at the 2023 Ronde van de Toekomst (Tour de l'Avenir equivalent for U23 riders).

As Del Toro continues to make waves in the world of professional cycling, fans and experts alike are eagerly anticipating his next move. The next professional cycling race in Spain is the Vuelta a España, which begins on August 23.
