Cycling Event 2025: Alarming Moment for Tired Tadej Pogacar in Stage 11 as Jonas Abrahamsen Secures Triumphant Victory in Tense Race
In an unexpected turn of events, Jonas Abrahamsen of Uno-X Mobility clinched an exhilarating victory in Stage 11 of the 2025 Tour de France. The 156.8-km ride around Toulouse saw a thrilling photo finish between Abrahamsen and Mauro Schmid, with Mathieu van der Poel finishing a close third, 7 seconds behind the leading pair.
The stage was marked by a significant incident involving Tadej Pogačar, the favourite in the Tour de France, who suffered a high-speed crash on the Cote de Pech descent with approximately 4km to go. Fortunately, Pogačar was not seriously injured and quickly re-joined the yellow jersey group, thanks to the sportsmanship shown by his rivals, including Jonas Vingegaard and Remco Evenepoel.
Despite the drama, Ben Healy, the current yellow jersey holder, managed to maintain his lead in the overall standings. Pogačar confirmed over team radio that he was "all good" after the crash.
Mauro Schmid, who wore the mountain jersey last year but couldn't win a stage, put up a strong fight throughout Stage 11. However, it was Abrahamsen who emerged victorious, securing his first Grand Tour win and making his dreams come true. Schmid was difficult to pass on the stage, with the gap between him and the competitors never exceeding 2.5 minutes.
After the race, an emotional Abrahamsen revealed that he had cried in the hospital when he broke his collarbone a few weeks ago. His determination to recover and compete in the Tour de France paid off, culminating in his thrilling victory in Stage 11.
Schmid, proud of his team's growth and support, finished the stage in second place. The peloton, led by Ben Healy, will now face the challenging Pyrenees and the Hautacam climb on Thursday.
