Cycling enthusiasts are invited to join the ADFC for a lively bike gathering this Sunday in Dusseldorf

On Sunday, 4th May, the ADFC Sternfahrt 2025 will take place in Düsseldorf, with cyclists from various starting points converging on the city to demonstrate for improved bike infrastructure.

The motto of this year's event is "NordRadWestfalen - not just talk, but action!", reflecting the cyclists' determination to see tangible changes in the city's cycling conditions.

The demonstration will consist of a large Sternfahrt, where cyclists will gather at various meeting points across the city, and a tour through Düsseldorf. Meeting points include Benrath, Schlossvorplatz (13.00), Eller, Gertrudisplatz (13.15), Gerresheim, Neusser Tor (13.00), Grafenberg, Staufenplatz (13.15), Kaiserswerth, Klemensplatz (13.10), Oberbilk, Oberbilker Markt (13.40), Oberkassel, Barbarossaplatz (13.25), Stadtmitte, M.-Weyhe-Allee (13.45), and Stockum, Aquazoo (13.35).

The demo tour will be conducted at a relaxed pace of about 12-15 km/h and will have a police escort, ensuring a safe and enjoyable ride for all participants. The tour will go over two Rhine bridges and through the Rhine tunnel, offering a scenic route for cyclists.

The tour is suitable for children from six years old, making it a family-friendly event. The central rally will take place at the Johannes-Rau-Platz from 14.30, where cyclists will gather to make their voices heard and advocate for swift bike infrastructure expansion.

According to Düsseldorf ADFC chair Daniela Günther, wide bike lanes in city centers, gap-free, safe bike paths, and a network of bike highways between cities are necessary for more people to cycle. However, there are objections from the car lobby and naysayers that delay or prevent the implementation of bike infrastructure.

The ADFC is demonstrating for improvements in bike infrastructure to promote a sustainable and environmentally-friendly mode of transportation. With local elections scheduled for September, the demonstration aims to make the importance of these changes clear to politicians.

For exact meeting points, routes, and campaign objectives, it is recommended to check official ADFC Düsseldorf communications or their website closer to the event date, as this information is typically published well in advance.
