CVA Girls Soccer Team Faces Oneida After Thrilling Victory

Central Valley Academy (CVA) girls soccer team is set to face Oneida at home this Friday at 7 p.m. The team is coming off a thrilling victory against Frankfort-Schuyler, which handed the visitors their first loss of the season.

CVA started the season with a 1-2 record but has since turned things around, winning six of their last eight matches, including two consecutive close victories. Their latest win came against Frankfort-Schuyler, ranked 17th in the state in Class C.

The match was a tense affair. CVA took an early lead when Ainsley Albrecht scored within the first 12 minutes. They maintained this advantage until halftime. In the second half, Mia Ponte, the team's second-best scorer, found the back of the net in the 4th minute, assisted by Brynlee Metott. Frankfort-Schuyler equalized with less than 10 minutes left on the clock through Kyleigh Sears, but CVA held their nerve and secured a 2-1 victory. Brynna Scalise made nine crucial saves in the match.

CVA now stands at a record of 6-1-1. Their next challenge is against Oneida at home this Friday. The team will look to build on their recent form and continue their impressive run.
