Unleashing the Demands of Kaweh Mansoori: A Suspension on the Rejections of Asylum Seekers at Germany's Borders

What's tickling Hesse's Deputy Prime Minister, Kaweh Mansoori (SPD), isn't a joint of schnitzel or a barrel of German beer. It's the relentless rejection of asylum seekers at Germany's borders. With a stern warning in his voice, he cautions against nudging the democratic rule of law aside like last night's leftovers. "In these trying days when the grand old lady of justice is feeling the strain, it's of vital importance that the impression doesn't linger that our governments neglect court rulings," he cautions.

You might be wondering, "What's a government to do when the courts hand down a ruling they're not so fond of?" Mansoori has an answer: "Respect it, man! It doesn't matter if it's the finest wine or the bumpkiest cider—a court ruling, for heaven's sake, must not be casually cast aside!"

Enter Federal Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt (CSU), swinging his hatchet of rejection left and right, sending asylum seekers packing in accordance with his orders. This practice was given the thumbs-down by the Berlin Administrative Court, which declared the rejection of three Somalis a no-go. Why? Because without a clarification on who bears the responsibility of vetting their asylum claims, it's a big no-no to kick them to the curb.

Mansoori's solution, straight from his well of wisdom? Suspend this new-fangled practice until things are straightened out in the courts. After all, trust in the separation of powers seems more significant than swiftly achieving political goals, don't you think? "It's all fancy footwork and games of musical chairs if we trample the rule of law underfoot for the sake of temporary political victories," he bellows.

But let's give a fair shake to the other side of the argument. Hesse's CDU Interior Minister, Roman Poseck, is unfazed by the court decision. He plans to keep on chucking asylum seekers over the border, regardless of what the higher courts have to say. After all, the fine print of the law is yet to be read and interpreted in full.

In light of Kaweh Mansoori's concerns about the rejection of asylum seekers at Germany's borders, he advocates for a suspension of the new practice until court rulings are clarified, arguing that respect for the rule of law and separation of powers is paramount (policy-and-legislation). Meanwhile, Hesse's CDU Interior Minister, Roman Poseck, remains unfazed, planning to continue enforcing rejections, citing the finer points of the law that have yet to be fully interpreted (politics).
