A well-known hot pot chain in China is doling out refunds to over 4,000 customers after a pair of teenagers decided to relieve themselves in the communal pot. A shocking video, revealing one of the teens peeing into the infamous dish called hot pot, has taken the web by storm this week.
Allegations against the culprits came from Haidilao, the restaurant operator behind this incident, as well as local authorities. The incident, according to them, took place on February 24, in the bustling eastern Chinese city of Shanghai. Two 17-year-olds are the prime suspects, potentially facing charges.
Revealing the Incident Site - Days Later
In a letter of apology, the restaurant admitted to discovering the video four days after its online debut, but the exact location and date of the incident were initially elusive. It wasn't until March 6 that the crime scene, stationed in a Shanghai branch opposite a renowned skyline street, came to light.
The restaurant promised to clean and disinfect every hot pot and utensil within the affected branch. Moreover, all customers who dined between the incident and March 8 would receive a refund when presenting their receipt, along with ten times the original amount as compensation.
