Peru Considering New City Pool, But Project Faces Opposition from NY Post

A new city pool in Peru is being considered, but the project is facing opposition from the NY Post and some quarters. During a Committee of the Whole meeting on Monday afternoon, city council members discussed the potential location for the new facility and the costs associated with it.

According to Mayor Ken Kolowski, the new city pool is a 'work in progress.' He plans to reach out to an architect to clarify questions about the costs of the project, but the name of the architect has not been revealed yet.

The sentiment expressed by the administrator of the Friends & Family for Peru Pool Facebook page is that the city pool project will not be successful. In a post on Monday, the administrator predicted the failure of the project and urged social media users to contact their alderman and city hall.

The post also stated that Peru will not be getting a pool, according to the administrator. Nearly 70 percent of voters in Peru said yes to an advisory referendum question about building and maintaining a municipal pool using hotel/motel tax revenues in November. However, a majority of city council members have publicly expressed reservations about the idea of building the new city pool.

The process for the new city pool is ongoing, and the next step in the process is being considered. Despite the opposition, Mayor Kolowski remains optimistic about the project. He emphasized that the city pool is an important community facility that will provide recreational opportunities for residents of all ages.

The council members discussed the location for the new city pool during the meeting, but no decision has been made yet. The administrator of the Friends & Family for Peru Pool Facebook page has expressed opposition to the proposed location, but it is unclear where the group would prefer the pool to be built.

As the process for the new city pool continues, it will be interesting to see how the project progresses and whether the opposition can be overcome. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.
