In a surprising revelation, Education Minister Theresa Schopper has announced an investigation into a 20-year IT crisis in the German education administration that has left 1,440 teaching positions unfilled, particularly in the southwest.

The root cause of this prolonged crisis, according to Schopper, is a software error dating back to 2005. The Minister has expressed regret for not intervening earlier in the teaching supply and has vowed to work at full speed to understand the cause and rectify the issue.

The complexity of the investigation, Schopper compared to the crime series "Tatort", hinting at the intricate web of factors involved. Factors to be considered include maternity leave, long-term illnesses, retirements, and reduced hours.

The Ministry of Education and Finance has admitted to the software error, and Schopper has emphasized the need to quickly fill the vacant positions to ensure the smooth functioning of the education system, which involves approximately 4,500 schools and 130,000 positions spread across 95,000 roles.

Schopper has also stated that they now have people to help fill the vacant positions. However, it's uncertain if the unfilled positions could have been filled in the past due to a lack of applicants.

The software error has gone unnoticed for 16 years, highlighting the importance of well-designed IT systems and effective information management in preventing and addressing such issues. The investigation and search for blame will be complex due to the large number of schools, positions, and roles involved.

Schopper personally expressed distress over the crisis and has pledged to work tirelessly to resolve this issue and ensure the future of the German education system.

Community policy regarding the resolution of the 20-year IT crisis in the German education administration, due to a software error, should prioritize vocational training programs for IT professionals, to prevent such incidents in future. Examining policy-and-legislation and politics surrounding the general news of this crisis, it's crucial to ensure that similar discrepancies do not affect the country's education system.
