Brazilian Coach Luizomar de Moura Takes the Helm of Cuba's Women's National Volleyball Team

In an exciting development for volleyball fans, the Cuban Volleyball Federation (FCV) has announced the hiring of renowned Brazilian coach Luizomar de Moura to lead the Cuban women's national team.

De Moura, a prestigious coach with a impressive track record, has achieved success at world championships at the junior, cadet, and club levels. His latest venture will see him guide the Cuban national team as they prepare for the World Championship in Thailand from August 22 to September 7.

As part of a program by the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) to globally develop the sport, the partnership between de Moura and the Cuban national team is a significant step forward. The team will travel to Brazil to prepare, specifically in the structure of Osasco.

Before taking on this challenge, de Moura will watch Cuba in the NORCECA (North, Central America, and Caribbean) Championship. He has expressed gratitude to the Osasco structure for allowing them to use a robust structure for this challenge.

Cuba's national volleyball team has had a tumultuous recent history, missing the last four Olympics. De Moura, the first foreigner to lead Cuba's women's national team, aims to bring his philosophy of volleyball and unite it with the school developed by coaches like Eugenio George, who led the team to three consecutive Olympic gold medals in the 1990s.

De Moura's coaching career is not limited to the Cuban national team. He has previously worked with teams in Peru and Kenya before the Tokyo Games. He has also shown remarkable success in Brazil, winning three editions of the Superliga and a World Club Championship, among other achievements.

De Moura has also received support from Mireya Luis, a legend of the sport and vice-president of the Cuban Volleyball Federation. This partnership promises to bring a fresh perspective and renewed energy to the Cuban team as they strive to regain their former glory.
