In an interview with the 'Munich Mercury', CSU leader Markus Söder has reiterated his party's stance against the proposals of the EU Commission to impose sanctions on the United States. Söder, who is also the Bavarian Minister-President, emphasised the importance of maintaining friendly relations with the United States and advocated for honesty in dealing with the Middle Eastern democracy.

Söder's statements underscore the CSU's position, which firmly rejects sanctions against the United States and would not agree to unilateral recognition of a Palestinian state at the federal level.
