Unraveling a Controversy: Hoffmann's Allegations Against Pro Asyl

Bavarian CSU Group Leader, Hoffmann, Launches Critique Against Pro Asyl - CSU Group Leader Hoffmann Criticizes Pro Asylum Organization

In a bold move, the new CSU parliamentary group head, Alexander Hoffmann, has leveled severe accusations towards refugee aid organizations such as Pro Asyl. The bone of contention is the disputed returns of asylum seekers at the Germany-Poland border. Hoffmann, in an interview with the Augsburger Allgemeine, insinuates that Pro Asyl may have been aiding Somali asylum seekers prior to their entries. Pro Asyl, in response, vehemently refuted these allegations.

"The Suspicious Case of Somali Asylum Seekers"

Hoffmann points out the "remarkably staged" nature of the three Somali asylum seeker's cases and suggests a carefully planned act by asylum activists. According to him, one individual was first registered as an adult during two attempts to cross the border, but miraculously turned into a minor in the third attempt, complete with suspicious ID documents. Additionally, all three were found to possess brand-new mobile devices that couldn't be traced back to their paths of travel. To Hoffmann, this sequence of events showcases "clear stages of a staged event by asylum activists."

Pro Asyl's Counterclaims

Karl Kopp, the managing director of Pro Asyl, strongly contested these accusations, stating that they lack any factual basis. "We are a human rights organization, committed to supporting refugees in court," he reiterated. Kopp explained that Pro Asyl had indeed provided legal support for the three Somalis, including the minor, emphasizing that their claims should be treated with respect and fairness.

The Berlin Administrative Court ruled on Monday that the return of the three Somalis at the border in Frankfurt (Oder) was illegal, as the responsible EU country for their asylum applications was yet to be determined. Consequently, the border authorities were prohibited from turning them away. Notably, the trio were subsequently returned to Poland following the ruling, but have since returned to Berlin.
